Separate display from value
A true date has an underlying serial value and a display format. A text date only looks like a date and may not sort correctly.
Resolve ambiguous dates
Values such as 04/05/2026 can mean April 5 or May 4. Confirm the source locale before converting them in bulk.
Use one export format
YYYY-MM-DD is readable, sortable, and less ambiguous across regions. Keep original files unchanged and export a cleaned copy.
