Use a local-processing browser tool
A browser tool does not automatically mean cloud upload. FoldSuite reads the selected file locally, performs the split on the Mac, and creates the download without sending spreadsheet contents to its server.
Choose the right split mode
Split by worksheet for multi-tab workbooks, by column for department or customer delivery, or by row count when a receiving system limits file size.
Plan for memory
Safari and Chrome still need enough memory to parse the workbook and build the ZIP. Close heavy tabs, process extremely large files in smaller batches, and keep the page open until download finishes.
Preserve identifiers
Customer IDs, postcodes, and phone numbers should remain text so leading zeros are not lost. Inspect these columns in at least one output before distributing files.
Open the output in your target app
Test the result in the application recipients actually use, such as Excel for Mac, Numbers, or an import system. Formula, macro, chart, and advanced-format support can differ.

Before you start
Do I need Microsoft Excel installed?
No. The split runs in the browser, although Excel or another spreadsheet app is useful for checking the output.
Will macros and charts be preserved?
Do not rely on browser splitting for macros, charts, images, or complex workbook objects. Keep the original file and validate the output.
